How We Started

Our Beginning

On October 28, 1991, over 400 people attended `Hatfield History Night', in the Hatfield Fire Company Banquet Hall. The History Night was sponsored by the Hatfield Chamber of Commerce and organized by the Chamber’s Historical Committee.  Fifty large tables were packed with old photographs, newspapers and memorabilia from Hatfield.

Because of the success of the History Night and the obvious community interest in Hatfield History, Historical Committee Chairman Larry Stevens, and committee member Rev. Greg Dimick formed a new organization, the Hatfield Museum and History Society, which was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation on December 18, 1991.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Hatfield Museum and History Society is to preserve the history of the Hatfield Community.  This includes collecting and preserving books, documents, photographs, memorabilia and any other items relative to the history of the Hatfield Borough and Hatfield Township. It also includes educating the public through the presentation of programs on Hatfield's history. Another goal of the Society, now realized, was to establish a museum so that it could more effectively make its ever-growing collection available to the public. Through its efforts, the Society strives to promote an interest of Hatfield history, and the preservation of that history, in people of all ages.

Our Prgrams

The Society presents five community programs a year, highlighting different aspects of Hatfield’s history. These programs are presented  in January, March, May, September, and November, at the Hatfield Borough Municipal Building, 401 S. Main St., Hatfield, starting at 7 PM.  All meetings are free and open to the general public!
